This position is for the Building Automation division.

Our client is seeking an International Ocean Transportation Manager – Oversized & Overweight Cargo to manage complex transportation programs involving large, high-value, oversized, and overweight equipment. This position will focus heavily on international ocean shipping, including coordinating cargo movement from overseas origins through ports and onward to the final destination. The role requires close collaboration with internal project teams, freight forwarders, ocean carriers, heavy-haul providers, and other logistics partners to ensure shipments are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with transportation requirements. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience managing international shipments of large equipment and is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple shipments simultaneously.

• Manage end‑to‑end transportation activities for oversized, overweight, and high‑value equipment shipments.
• Coordinate international ocean freight movements, including shipment planning, port activities, inland transportation, and final delivery.
• Review cargo dimensions, weights, configurations, and handling requirements to determine appropriate transportation and container solutions.
• Develop transportation plans covering routing, transportation modes, schedules, storage requirements, permits, and contingency planning.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, ocean carriers, trucking companies, heavy‑haul providers, 3PLs, and other logistics partners.
• Manage specialized transportation requirements for large equipment, including heavy haul, heavy lift, cranes, rigging, escorts, and specialized handling equipment.
• Coordinate shipment schedules and logistics activities with internal project managers and other cross‑functional teams.
• Work with manufacturing, procurement, proposal, and project teams to align transportation plans with overall project timelines.
• Monitor multiple international shipments and transportation projects concurrently, maintaining accurate status, schedules, and documentation.
• Evaluate transportation routes and participate in routing surveys, feasibility reviews, and other planning activities for complex cargo movements.
• Identify and address potential transportation risks involving cargo handling, routing, safety, regulatory compliance, cost, and schedule.
• Track transportation costs, budgets, invoices, and related logistics expenses and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
• Resolve shipment delays, port issues, carrier problems, routing challenges, and other transportation disruptions.
• Ensure required shipping and transportation documentation is accurate and complete, including bills of lading, permits, customs documentation, insurance records, and related paperwork.
• Maintain compliance with applicable international, federal, state, and local transportation regulations, permitting requirements, safety standards, and company procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Hands‑on experience managing international ocean shipments is required.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating oversized, overweight, or over‑dimensional cargo.
• Experience managing transportation for large equipment, industrial equipment, capital equipment, or other complex/high‑value cargo.
• Working knowledge of international shipping processes, ocean freight, ports, cargo dimensions, container types/configurations, and transportation planning.
• Experience working with freight forwarders, ocean carriers, heavy‑haul providers, trucking companies, 3PLs, or other transportation service providers.
• Knowledge of transportation permitting, customs/shipping documentation, regulatory compliance, insurance requirements, and safety considerations.
• Ability to manage a large number of shipments or multiple transportation projects simultaneously while maintaining accurate schedules and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal project managers and external logistics providers.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage changing priorities and transportation schedules.
• Experience supporting industrial, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, or large capital projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with transportation across multiple modes, including ocean, road, rail, and port operations, is preferred.
• Experience with SAP or another ERP system is preferred.
• Familiarity with Salesforce or another CRM platform is a plus.
• PMP or similar project management certification is preferred.
• Experience working with global organizations is a plus.
