The cover letter must include examples of how your past work experience is applicable to this position.## Job SummaryReporting directly to the Director, the International Education Program Manager supports the Center for Global Engagement by advancing international student success, immigration compliance, and global engagement initiatives. This position develops programs and resources that foster international students transition, belonging, retention, and overall success; provides foundational F-1 and J-1 immigration advising and compliance support; and leads strategic communications and outreach efforts for international students, scholars, and prospective students. The role also collaborates closely with campus partners to strengthen student support services, promote education abroad opportunities, and enhance comprehensive internationalization across the institution.This is a full-time 40 hours per week (100%) position.## Responsibilities\\***Program Management & Student Success (50%)*** Develop tailored resources that support international students transition, engagement, retention, belonging, and overall success.* Serve as a liaison between the Center for Global Engagement and other campus units to connect international students with vital campus resources.* In collaboration with campus units and community organizations, develop and administer programs that foster leadership skills, intercultural communication, global awareness, and career-ready competencies through workshops, mentoring, student organizations, campus engagement, and experiential learning opportunities.* Track student retention, engagement, satisfaction, and success outcomes; use data and feedback to improve international student services, programs, and policies.* Plan and coordinate new student orientation, welcome events, and cultural integration workshops.* Assist with Education Abroad pre-departure orientation.* Support and advise international student organizations and peer mentoring programs, empowering student leaders to drive broader campus engagement.* Coordinate the international living-learning community in collaboration with Housing and Residential Life, serving as the primary liaison for programming alignment.* Educate students on institutional and program policies, procedures, and community resources.* Provide support with developing alumni engagement activities.* Market and promote the Center for Global Engagement initiatives and programs.**Immigration Advising & Compliance (30%)*** Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).* Issue I-20 and provide fundamental immigration advising to F-1 and J-1 students, scholars, and their dependents.* Guide students through employment and practical training options (such as CPT, OPT, and STEM OPT), utilizing established institutional workflows and technical platforms (e.g., Sunapsis).* Maintain accurate advising records and collaborate with administrative offices (Registrar, HR, Payroll) to streamline compliance tracking.* Support and monitor international student health insurance enrollment, compliance, and communication.**Communications & Outreach (20%)*** Develop and implement communication plans that deliver timely, relevant information to international students from pre-arrival through graduation.* Utilize Sunapsis and existing campus communication tools to track student inquiries and send critical timeline reminders.* Curate and maintain culturally responsive digital content and branding standards for newsletters, website updates, and social media channels.* Assist with the Education Abroad program marketing and promotion.* Execute communication plans for the recruitment funnel to engage prospective international students and improve enrollment yield.**Other Responsibilities as Assigned**## Required Qualifications\\** Bachelor's degree.* Three or more years of experience developing and implementing student development and engagement programs in an educational setting.* May require some evening and weekend hours.## Desired Qualifications\\** Two years of professional experience in a higher education setting.* Knowledge of University policies, rules, and administrative procedures relating to international student success and education abroad admission.* Experience with Banner, Sunapsis, SEVIS, and Terra Dotta.## Why Work at U-M Flint?In addition to a career filled with purpose and opportunity, The University of Michigan offers a comprehensive benefits package to help you stay well, protect yourself and your family, and plan for a secure future.Benefits include:* Generous time off* A retirement plan that provides two-for-one matching contributions after 12 months of eligible service with immediate vesting.* Many choices for comprehensive health insurance* Life insurance* Long-term disability coverage* Flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care expenses.Eligibility for benefits based on your job group, your appointment percentage and the length of your appointment.
