Job summary

The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking an Internal or Senior Auditor to conduct operational and compliance audits at the system office and 22 campuses. You will review activities, assess controls, and ensure compliance with policy and procedures, upholding high standards of practice.

The role requires 5-10% out-of-area travel within California, strong accounting and auditing knowledge, and fit with the university's mission and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited four-year college or university is required for either position.
• The internal auditor position prefers but does not require two years' auditing experience; CPA/CIA/CISA is desired but not required.
• The senior auditor requires three years' auditing experience; CPA/CIA/CISA is highly desired and progress toward certification is required.
• Additional requirements for internal auditors include knowledge of general accounting theory, internal controls, good organization and communication skills.
• Additional requirements for senior auditors include knowledge of internal auditing standards, information systems, and ability to perform a wide variety of audits.

Responsibilities

• Conduct reviews of assigned organizational and functional activities.
• Evaluate adequacy and effectiveness of management controls.
• Determine compliance with policy, procedures, and university objectives.
• Senior auditor may supervise audit work and guide junior staff.
