Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL is seeking a Temporary Internal Registry Registered Nurse (RN) for the Day Shift to support the Psych Child and Adolescent department on a 12-week assignment.

The RN will provide direct patient care, education, medication administration, therapeutic groups, crisis intervention, and documentation, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective care for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid State RN license.
• BLS certification required at hire and maintained.
• Knowledge of mental health laws and practice standards.
• Experience with inpatient/outpatient behavioral health units is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, education, and emotional support to patients and families.
• Record medical histories, assist in diagnostics, operate equipment.
• Administer medications and participate in follow-up and rehabilitation.
• Lead therapeutic groups and crisis intervention as needed.
• Seclusion and restraint of patients when required.

Overview

Temporary Internal Registry Registered Nurse (RN) – Day Shift

Location: Chicago, IL

Department: Psych Child and Adolescent

Status: Temporary Internal Registry (Full-Time, .9)

Shift: Day Shift

Compensation: $60.00 per hour (Flat Rate)

Assignment Details

The assignment is expected to last 12 weeks; however, staffing needs will be evaluated on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted based on operational requirements.

Responsibilities

Registered nurses (RNs) perform basic duties that include treating patients, educating patients about mental and medical conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients’ and/or family members, running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, seclusion and restraint of patients. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. RNs teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy. Other related duties.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Pay Transparency

Saint Mary of Nazareth offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $60.00 per hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
