Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • 2+ years of AS9100 experience and effective quality controls.
  • 2+ years of quality auditor experience (ASQ CQA) in aerospace.
  • 2+ years of aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • 2+ years of quality assurance experience within aerospace/defense/space.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and execute regular internal quality audits.
  • Draft, review, update SOPs and work instructions to support production scaling.
  • Assist in adopting production-level quality controls, including first article inspections (AS9102).
  • Investigate non-conformances, perform root-cause analysis, and track corrective actions.
  • Champion proactive quality culture across cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare documentation for external surveillance and recertification audits.

  • The onsite Internal Quality Auditor & Quality Specialist role supports the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), with primary responsibility for internal audit execution and QMS documentation updates.

  • Internal Auditing: Plan, schedule, and execute regular internal quality audits across various departments to ensure continuous compliance with AS9100 standards.

  • QMS Documentation Support: Work alongside the quality team to draft, review, update, and streamline standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to support production scaling.

  • Transition Execution: Assist engineering and manufacturing teams in adopting production-level quality controls, including first article inspections (AS9102) and configuration management.

  • CAPA & Non-Conformance: Support the investigation of non-conformances, facilitate root-cause analysis, and track the closure and effectiveness of corrective actions. Serve as a facilitator and coach across departments to ensure the implementation of effective, closed-loop corrective actions.

  • Proactive Quality Culture: Actively champion the shift from reactive quality control to proactive quality assurance, engaging early with cross-functional teams to embed preventive measures into processes before issues arise.

  • Reporting & External Audit Preparation: Compile data, organize records, and prepare documentation using our internal tools to ensure successful external surveillance and recertification audits.


Job Requirements

What You'll Bring


  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Technology or Engineering or Mathematics.

  • 2+ years of experience in AS9100 and effective quality controls as the organization transitions from development into structured production.

  • 2+ years of quality auditor experience, such as ASQ Quality Auditor (CQA) with aerospace, AS9100 Internal Auditor, AS9100 Lead Auditor.

  • 2+ years of aerospace manufacturing experience.

  • 2+ years of quality assurance experience within the aerospace, defense, or space industry.


What Sets You Apart


  • External certification.

  • Proven proficiency in Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies using structured frameworks like 8D, DMAIC, or systematic formats.

  • Clear understanding of how AS9100 requirements scale and adapt when a facility moves from a low-volume development/R&D environment into production.

  • Experience working within a collaborative, established quality team in a fast-paced startup or small company environment.

  • Hands-on proficiency in tracking tasks and managing system documentation using Jira, Confluence, and Odoo.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coach and collaborate with engineers, technicians, and operations personnel.


Additional Information


  • Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check.

  • Position could require travel to remote locations (with travel compensation included).

  • Ability to safely navigate, walk, and maneuver about manufacturing facilities, hardware test facilities, and launch sites, as well as traditional office environments.

  • Occasional climbing stairs or standard ladders might be needed.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Willingness and ability to wear required PPE in various designated operational areas (including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear/steel-toe boots, electronic discharge garments and instruments in specified areas).
