The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced professional for the Correctional Officer Sergeant vacancy at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution in Milton, Florida. Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Be a citizen of the United States.
• Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.
• Must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months.
• Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months.
• Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmates and manages housing areas.
• Enforces rules and sanitation standards and conducts head counts.
• Performs crisis intervention and uses approved force when needed.
• Maintains facility security and conducts searches of inmates and areas.
• Directs staff in operational duties and prepares incident reports.
