Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise and support instructional staff and adjuncts for general industry, production, logistics, and related programs.
- Monitor and schedule certification renewals and retraining sessions as required, ensuring that instructors are fully certified and compliant with regulatory requirements, and schedule certification training to acquire new credentials aligned with program offerings.
- Coordinate scheduling, delivery and evaluation of manufacturing, production, industrial safety, logistics, and other workforce training programs.
- Develop, update and maintain curriculum for manufacturing, production, industrial safety, logistics and other workforce training programs.
- Maintain laboratories, training facilities, tools, equipment, consumable materials and inventory.
- Inform the administration of any planned or unplanned changes in classroom activities, including absences, time changes and meetings.
- Coordinate equipment purchases with Director and assist with grant funded projects.
- Monitor instructor performance and provide coaching, mentoring and professional development.
- Ensure training programs meet the requirements of industry recognised credentials and certifications.
- Develop and maintain relationships with construction contractors, telecommunications contractors, broadband providers, manufacturers, vendors, workforce agencies and economic development partners.
- Implement and manage attendance procedures and retention activities to maximise student participation and success.
- Teach classroom, laboratory and hands on courses in construction and fibre optics as needed, using a range of instructional strategies, including whole group, small group and individualised instruction, to engage students effectively.
- Assist with student recruitment, enrolment, retention and job placement activities.
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, certification documentation, equipment records and required reports in accordance with college policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, college policies and safe classroom, laboratory and worksite practices.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new construction, fibre optic, broadband and infrastructure programmes based on regional industry demand.
- Represent the college at industry meetings, career fairs, workforce events and community activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, in service training and multi disciplinary team meetings to stay current with industry standards and teaching best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Business, Logistics, Workforce Development or another related field.
- Strong background in certification programmes and curriculum development, and the design, delivery and evaluation of customised training solutions for businesses and industries.
- The ability to articulate and implement a vision for advancement of workforce training programmes in a public higher education is essential.
- Certifications in the following areas:
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30
- CPR First Aid
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Business, Logistics, Workforce Development or another related field.
- Substantive leadership experience is required for this position.
- Excellent public relations, organisational skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational, leadership, communication and problem solving skills.
- Service oriented, promote excellence and embrace a deep commitment to professionalism.
- Ability to work with students and staff from a diverse background.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and learning management systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Some travel to training sites and partner locations required.
- Ability to lift and carry training equipment or tools up to 50 lbs.
