Job summary

The Vet Service in New York State seeks a Veterinary Internist to join a multidisciplinary specialty and emergency environment. Manage complex cases with access to MRI, CT, ultrasound and in-house labs for detailed assessment and advanced medical management.

Work with specialists across surgery, neurology, dermatology and internal medicine, contributing to referrals while mentoring junior staff. Residency-trained or board-certified candidates are preferred, with opportunities for leadership and

Qualifications

• DVM or VMD from an accredited veterinary school.
• One-year rotating internship covering small animal medicine, surgery and emergency care.
• Three-year AVMA-approved internal medicine residency.
• Current state veterinary license with DEA registration as required.
• Board certification preferred; post-residency experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide internist expertise within a multidisciplinary specialty and emergency environment.
• Collaborate with surgery, neurology, dermatology and internal medicine teams on complex cases.
• Contribute to advanced diagnostic and treatment plans and participate in leadership opportunities where appropriate.

Education

DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary institution
