Adventist Health White Memorial in downtown Los Angeles seeks a dynamic Program Director to lead our Internal Medicine Residency Program. You will mentor residents, shape the curriculum, and advance medical education in alignment with institutional aims.

The role requires ensuring ACGME accreditation, developing high-quality training, promoting resident well-being, and collaborating with community and academic partners to maintain excellence in patient care and scholarly activity.

Qualifications

• Hold or obtain a valid California medical license.
• Completed an accredited Internal Medicine residency.
• Board certified with ABIM or AOIM (Board of Internal Medicine).
• 3–5 years in IM education or administration, preferably as a director or core faculty.

Responsibilities

• Lead residency education and align with program aims.
• Maintain ACGME accreditation and comply with requirements.
• Develop and continuously improve the Internal Medicine curriculum with board pass targets.
• Mentor faculty and conduct annual reviews.
• Recruit and retain high-caliber residents reflecting the community.

Major Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a commitment to residency education and to supporting institutional and program mission and aims.
• Ensure continued accreditation of the program by comprehending and complying with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requirements and institutional policies.
• Develop and continuously improve a high-quality, comprehensive Internal Medicine curriculum that meets state and national standards, aiming for a board pass rate greater than 80% and average in-service examination scores above the national mean.
• Mentor teaching faculty, monitor their academic appointments and performance, conduct annual reviews, and develop a faculty development program that encourages professional growth.
• Recruit, retain, and promote a high-caliber resident body reflective of the community, ensuring excellence in patient care, scholarly activity, ethics, and professionalism.
• Cultivate a psychologically safe working and learning environment that allows residents to raise concerns and provide feedback without fear of intimidation or retaliation.
• Manage financial stewardship of the residency budget, ensuring availability of ACGME-required resources for resident education and scholarly activity.
• Establish and maintain an education liaison with community-based and academic teaching institutions, coordinating faculty development, medical student curriculum, and resident training as needed.
• Perform any other duties required for the position and operation of the Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Qualifications

• Hold or be able to obtain a valid and unrestricted medical license from the State of California.
• Completed an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine.
• Certified or maintain certification with the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine Physicians.
• 3–5 years of Internal Medicine education and/or administrative experience, preferably as a Director, Associate Director, Site Director, or Core Faculty member of an Internal Medicine Residency Training Program.
