Job summary

NCH Medical Group in Marco Island, Florida, is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Internal Medicine practice. The role involves supporting patient care, assisting providers, and managing routine clinical tasks in a busy office.

You will document in the EMR, collect vitals, assist with procedures, coordinate referrals and communications with patients, and maintain a clean, compliant clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School or GED required.
• Completion of Medical Assistant or practical nursing training program with clinical practicum hours; OR Medical Assistant certification; OR a minimum of one-year experience performing above duties in a medical office.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Ability to take accurate patient vital signs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 codes.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, including scheduling and patient flow.
• Escort patients to exam/procedure rooms and report observations to providers.
• Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, and specimen collection.
• Collect patient history including medications and allergies.
• Provide patient care as directed by the provider and assist with procedures.
• Document interventions and patient information in the EMR and relay instructions to patient/family.
• Answer patient calls and messages as liaison between patient and provider.
• Fulfills clerical duties such as filing and scheduling, and sending medical records.
• Collect and handle lab specimens following infection control guidelines.
• Utilize electronic referrals process to complete physician referrals.
