Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Diagnostic Specialist-MSSM to support quality patient care in a hospital setting. You will perform routine examinations, assist physicians and RNs, and conduct standard diagnostic procedures to aid clinical decision-making.

The role requires completion of NYS-approved LPN training, active NY LPN licensure, and 1–2 years of nursing experience, with BLS certification. You will participate in a busy care team and contribute to patient safety and timely care.

Qualifications

• Completion of a NYS-approved LPN training program.
• BLS certification required.
• 1-2 years recent nursing experience.
• Active NY LPN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Plans and manages patient care according to each patient’s needs.
• Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition.
• Obtains patient vital signs (pulse, BP, temp, resp).
• Provides routine care for patients.
• Reviews medical charts.
• Accompanies patients to their rooms.
• Assists physicians and registered nurses.
• Communicates with patients and their families.
• Performs standard diagnostic procedures (EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, spirometry).
• Prepares specimens for lab courier.
• Administers medications.
• Provides wound care.
• Prepares and administers injections.
• Verifies patient charts are updated promptly and accurately.
• Observes and records patients’ conditions and reactions to medications and treatment.
• Other duties as assigned.
