Job summary

Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh, WI is seeking an inpatient physician to lead medical management on a busy hospital floor. You will work a predictable 7-on/7-off schedule (12-hour shifts) with ~175 shifts yearly, focusing on high-quality, cost-effective patient care.

The role requires board-eligible or board-certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, Wisconsin licensure, and ALS. You will collaborate with a dedicated nocturnist team and hospitalists to ensure smooth handoffs.

Qualifications

• MD/DO license required and board certification eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Join an established daytime team with 2 daytime rounders and 1 APP; overnight support provided by 1 Nocturnist.
• Rounding for inpatient care with a workload averaging 10–14 patients daily.
• Focus on medical management with zero mandatory procedures, retaining autonomy to perform them if desired.
• Adhere to a highly predictable 7-on/7-off schedule (12-hour shifts) and 175 shifts per year.
• Act as primary attending or consulting physician to guide hospital stays.
• Collaborate with the team to improve clinical quality metrics and patient safety.

• Lead Inpatient Recovery: Evaluate and treat acute and chronic conditions with precision, acting as the primary attending or consulting physician to guide patients safely through their hospital stay.

• Champion Care Cost-Effectiveness: Partner with a collaborative team to improve clinical quality metrics and patient safety, ensuring high-value care across the campus.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• One or more of the following required:

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Advanced Life Support preferred.

Education:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
