Job summary

Texas Life Insurance Company in Waco seeks a seasoned Internal Controls Leader to oversee ICFR/MAR across the organization, strengthen the control framework, and coordinate with auditors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 7+ years in control/audit, CPA/CIA/CISA preferred, and strong Excel/SharePoint skills. Onsite in Texas with a base salary of $150k–$170k and competitive benefits, including retirement plans and incentive programs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a control-related role, with preference for audit management experience.
• Experience in internal audit or public accounting is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and statutory accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Become the expert of Texas Life's control environment and the current key control framework.
• Assist the business with new initiatives, including system conversions/updates and changes in processes.
• Assessing Operational Controls and ICFR/MAR impact; identify control gaps and help design, test and implement new controls.
• Lead the execution of management's ICFR/MAR risk assessment and scoping.
• Contribute to the enhancement of the ICFR/MAR program structure and governance.
• Stay up to date on changes impacting controls and partner with stakeholders.
• Lead remediation plans for control deficiencies across Operations, IT and Finance.
• Support the business during auditors' walkthroughs and testing.
• Keep current on best practices through industry participation.
• Act as a trusted advisor to cross-departmental teams and auditors.
