What You’ll Do
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the firm’s general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and completed in a timely manner.
- Reconciliations & Financial Accuracy: Perform monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice entry, payment processing, collections follow-up, and vendor coordination.
- Journal Entries & Adjustments: Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and financial adjustments in accordance with firm policies and accounting standards.
- Month-End & Year-End Close Support: Assist with monthly and annual close processes, ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and organization of financial information.
- Financial Documentation & Recordkeeping: Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation in alignment with firm standards and operational best practices.
- Internal Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports, schedules, and supporting analyses for firm leadership review.
- External Coordination: Collaborate with external accountants and firm leadership to support tax filings, audits, and financial reporting requirements.
- Cash Flow & Budget Monitoring: Monitor cash flow activity and assist with tracking firm expenses, budgeting, and operational financial metrics.
- Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify and recommend opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes, internal controls, workflow efficiency, and financial reporting accuracy.
- Technology & Operational Support: Utilize accounting software and emerging tools to improve efficiency, organization, and day-to-day operational effectiveness.
What You Bring
- Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
- Experience: 3–5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience required, preferably within a professional services or public accounting environment.
- Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software required; QuickBooks experience strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with the ability to learn firm-specific systems and tools efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy, organization, and analytical skills with a strong commitment to maintaining reliable financial records.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Communication Skills: Professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and leadership levels.
- Independent Work Ethic: Self-motivated professional capable of working independently, taking initiative, and managing responsibilities with minimal oversight.
