Job summary

City of Austin Water is seeking an Internal Auditor II to perform auditing work across financial information, internal controls, and governance. The role supports compliance with laws and policies and may involve leading smaller audits or sections of larger audits.

The position focuses on evaluating controls and improving processes within the Water department. The ideal candidate will possess a four-year degree in a related field, two years of experience, and familiarity with government auditing

Qualifications

• Four (4) year degree in accounting, business, social sciences, public administration, or related field.
• Two (2) years of relevant experience.
• Masters in related field can substitute for one (1) year of experience.
• Professional Auditing Certification (e.g., CIA, CGAP, CISA, CFE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages narrow-scope audits, small projects, or fraud investigations.
• Plans audits, including objectives, scope, and audit program.
• Collects, reviews, and analyzes information and data significant to the project.
• Performs interviews of personnel in the course of performing projects.
• Performs tests of internal controls to ensure safeguarding of assets and compliance with laws.
• Prepares and reviews work papers and draft audit reports.
• Develops conclusions, recommends improvements and communicates audit results to auditees.
• Helps develop audit policies, procedures, and templates.
