Job summary

Venerable is offering an Internal Audit & Advisory Internship for Summer 2027. You will support enterprise processes, testing capabilities, and gain exposure to risk and controls within variable annuity products and derivatives.

You'll perform guided control testing, analyze data with Excel and Python, build reports in PowerBI, and present findings to the Head of Internal Audit & Advisory. Hybrid in-office schedule near West Chester, PA; housing not provided.

Job description

Internal Audit & Advisory Internship

This Internal Audit & Advisory Internship is open for the summer of 2027. As an intern, you will have an opportunity to support and gain exposure to several enterprise processes and testing capabilities that will contribute to Venerable’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Perform guided internal control testing and assessment of exceptions.
  • Using data analysis tools to summarize data extracts, organize data at varying levels, and interpret trends in data for various audit and risk function collaborative tests.
  • Using data visualization tools to build reports and interactive tools to understand key market risks in our variable annuity products and the capital market derivatives used to hedge those risks.
  • Developing and presenting memorandums to summarize analysis and results for various types of audiences including the Head of Internal Audit & Advisory.
  • Building and maintaining documentation on processes.
  • Assisting with quantitative analysis, completion of audit projects, improving processes and analytics.
  • Building an understanding of the primary risk drivers and controls of Venerable.
  • Gaining an understanding of financial and insurance industry.
Recommended Qualifications
  • Student applicants are expected to have a strong curiosity over data and data outcomes, willing to improve their skills on technical / enterprise tools, display personal initiative and invest in communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Highly curious and comfortable in a complex and technical environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills & strong technical skills inclusive of advanced Excel functions, leverage of the enterprise’s Large Language Model to drive analytical outcomes.
  • In pursuit of a college degree in Business, Entrepreneurial and/or Computer science or related background, including exposure to programming languages such as Python, is also a plus.
  • Willingness to understand or experience with data and database concepts, data relationships, and data reporting visualization is also an asset.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Services is a plus.
  • Exposure to Microsoft PowerBI is also a plus.
  • Prior internship or co-op experience desired but not necessary.
Eligibility & Location

Note: Eligibility for this internship requires a student's availability to work our hybrid in-office schedule, based in our West Chester, PA office. Housing assistance is not provided. This position is not open to applicants who require sponsorship for legal U.S. work authorization now or at any point in the future post-graduation.
