Job summary

Dominion Energy seeks a motivated engineering student for a summer internship in the Transmission Engineering team. The role offers hands-on exposure to surveying, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric transmission system across our service territory.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil or Mechanical Engineering program.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Graduation date in 2028 or 2029.

Responsibilities

  • Support transmission engineering projects involving high-voltage (33kv – 230kV) transmission lines and associated facilities.
  • Bill of material development and material requisitions.
  • Assist with PLS-CADD design & AutoCAD drawings.
  • Review encroachment request and T&D joint use request to ensure they meet Dominion’s requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Utilize engineering software (PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD, etc.), GIS tools, and Microsoft Office applications to support project work.
  • Participate in field visits to transmission lines, substations, and construction sites to observe utility operations and engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with engineers and operations teams on projects.
  • Learn and apply Dominion Energy's commitment to safety, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship.
  • AutoCAD experience or prior AutoCAD coursework.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking a highly motivated engineering student to join our Transmission Engineering team for a summer internship. This internship will provide hands‑on exposure to the surveying, design, construction, operation, & maintenance of the electric transmission system that powers homes, business, and communities across our service territory.

Education Requirements
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program that is ABET accredited majoring in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Must have a graduation date of 2028 or 2029

Hourly Rate:
