Job summary

The HEAT Group Business Communications internship at Miami Heat in Miami, FL supports the department with administrative and public relations tasks for the 2026-27 season. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a 4-year college or technical school is preferred, but current college/university undergraduate and graduate students also encouraged to apply
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced, fluid environment while balancing multiple tasks at once
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison and escort media on game/show nights on an as-needed basis
  • Compile and update media distribution contact list including relevant local, national and international writers and podcasters
  • Research local/national podcasts pertaining to THGBC verticals including F&B, fashion, business, sports, lifestyle, entertainment, community, and social justice
  • Identify new digital media and support in creating relationships to maximize reach
  • Draft and send select press releases and advisories for Business Operations initiatives
  • Provide trend reports on new PR resources to benefit the enhancement of THGBC processes including new software opportunities, platforms, and services
  • Serve as the primary user of media tracking platforms (Critical Mention, Cision and/or equivalent) for earned media (non-paid placements) for The HEAT Group and Kaseya Center.
  • Create weekly recaps on THGBC successes/PR tracking to report on and analyze during weekly Department Meetings as well as cross competitive analyses with other NBA teams, venues, and relevant retail collaborations for discussion and review
  • Support with other administrative tasks as needed

The HEAT Group Business Communications Intern’s primary function is to provide administrative and public relations support to The HEAT Group Business Communications department and to assist with monitoring communications strategies for all business initiatives of the Miami HEAT and Kaseya Center during the 2026-27 NBA season.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

  • Serve as a liaison and escort media on game/show nights on an as-needed basis
