Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (BHSI) invites motivated students to join the Technology team in San Ramon for a 12-week Summer Intern program.

As a Technology Intern you will contribute to software development, testing, documentation, and data work under guidance of engineers, gaining hands-on experience.

This paid internship emphasizes collaboration, problem solving, and exposure to cloud, databases, and catastrophe modeling that support the insurance lifecycle.

Formación

• Pursuing a STEM degree or equivalent experience.

• Familiarity with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data pipelines.

As a Technology Intern, you will participate in and contribute to project and operational work under the guidance of experienced Technology professionals . If you have a passion for programming, project management, or analytics and data, we will identify projects to leverage these skills. In addition to learning about Technology processes and how they support the Insurance Life Cycle (pricing a quote through to a claim), you will also learn about the insurance industry, and experience first‑hand, the teamwork that it takes to deliver flexible, responsive solutions to our customers. We are seeking a motivated and curious individual to join ourSan Ramon office with the Technology team as aSummer Intern. This 12-week paid internship offers a deep dive into the world of Technology.

You will:

• Participate as an active member of the software engineering team, contributing to project and operational work
• Develop, test, troubleshoot, and document software solutions with guidance from experienced engineers
• Take ownership of assigned development tasks and follow them through completion
• Work with domain experts (engineers and scientists) across the CAT E&A team to enhance our use of available data
• Participate in the team's normal development processes, discussions, and meetings
• Investigate technical problems and develop thoughtful solutions using available tools and resources
• Manage assigned work and priorities while maintaining strong attention to quality and accuracy
• Communicate progress, questions, challenges, and blockers with the team

Qualifications:

• College concentration in one of the STEM disciplines or prior experience and demonstrated passion in an Information Technology role
• Proven coding, analytical and problem‑solving skills as normally acquired through the pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine learning, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and manage time effectively in a fast‑paced environment
• Experience with Git, Python, SQL and Docker
• Familiarity with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience with databases, data processing, and data pipelines
• Knowledge of machine learning and experience with geospatial data
• All candidates must have permanent work authorization in the United States
• Strongfocus,attentiontodetail andaccuracy
• Exposure to or experience with AI‑assisted development tools and an interest in applying AI effectively within the software development lifecycle is a plus

Pay Transparency:

The base salary range for this position in San Ramon is $25/hour - $28/hour. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
