Job summary

KB Signaling Inc. is seeking an Industrial Quality Engineer Intern (Mechanical Engineering) to support quality planning, product validation, and data analysis for mechanical components.

You will assist with inspection, testing, and evaluation to ensure conformance with engineering specs and quality requirements. Join a collaborative team, support FAI/PPAP, conduct dimensional analysis, review drawings and tolerances, and help document quality results.

  • Assist with inspection, testing, and evaluation of products to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality requirements.
  • Assist in First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP, and supplier quality activities as required.
  • Perform dimensional analysis and review engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerance requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and report quality data using statistical and problem-solving techniques.
  • Assist in root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to product and process non-conformities.
  • Collaborate on quality improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Industrial Quality Engineer Intern (Mechanical Engineering)

Essential Functions

  • Support quality planning and product validation activities for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Assist with inspection, testing, and evaluation of products to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality requirements.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP, and supplier quality activities as required.
  • Perform dimensional analysis and review engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerance requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and report quality data using statistical and problem-solving techniques.
  • Assist in root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to product and process non-conformities.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving process capability, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality teams on continuous improvement projects.
  • Create and maintain quality documentation, inspection records, and reports.
  • Utilize 3D CAD models and engineering drawings to support product and quality evaluations.

Skills and Competencies

  • Basic understanding of quality engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of measurement and inspection techniques using common metrology tools.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Hands‑on mechanical aptitude and experience working with tools, equipment, or laboratory testing.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
