Job summary

McCormick & Company, Incorporated in Hunt Valley, MD, seeks a full-time INTERN R&D - Analytical Science for a 10-week summer program (June 7, 2027 - August 13, 2027). The position requires 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, offering practical analytical experience.

As an intern you will support analytical development, data acquisition, analysis and reporting, and complete an independent research project with a final presentation. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Enrollment as an undergraduate Sophomore, Junior, Senior or graduate student in a relevant program for the 2026-2027 academic year.
• Enrollment as an Analytical Sciences, Chemistry, Food Science, Organic Chemistry, or Natural Product Chemistry major for the 2026-2027 academic year.
• Grade point average overall minimum of 3.0/4.0 and 3.25 within major.
• Working in chemistry lab.
• Communication skills, teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a structured and organized manner.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analytical development and testing, including sample preparation, data acquisition & analysis and written reporting.
• Conduct an independent research project in an area of agreed upon mutual interest – proposal, execution and written and oral presentation at conclusion of internship.
• Work directly with internal analytical teams providing hands-on assistance and project guidance.
• Collaborate with other analytical scientists and technologists to deliver ad hoc project results in a timely manner.
• Ability to work independently, learn new tasks, solve problems, show strong self-motivation and initiative
• Present final report on work completed during the intern period.
• Assist in gathering relevant data from various sources.
• Manage his/her tasks and assignments efficiently to meet deadlines.

Pay Range: $20 - $22

Position Overview:

The Analytical Science Intern will support analytical development and testing activities through hands‑on sample preparation, data acquisition, analysis, and technical reporting. The intern will work closely with internal analytical teams and cross‑functional scientists and technologists to contribute to ongoing and projects, while developing practical laboratory and problem‑solving skills.
