Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic Intern – Quality Control for Summer 2027, based in Batesburg, South Carolina. This role offers real-world projects, mentorship, and a paid internship across quality management and data analytics in a manufacturing environment.

You will engage in inspections, CAPA activities, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives while gaining hands-on experience with Hitachi's quality systems and tools.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with quality inspections and verification activities for incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.
• Support investigation of quality issues and customer complaints.
• Collect, analyze, and report quality performance data and key metrics.
• Maintain quality records, reports, and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
• Participate in internal audits and process reviews.
• Assist with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
• Support root cause analysis using quality tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and Pareto Analysis.
• Help monitor supplier quality performance and documentation.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on quality, efficiency, and waste reduction.
• Support compliance with applicable quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with quality inspections and verification activities for incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.

Physical Requirements:

Education:

Current student at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028 with a major in Quality Management or Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field)
