Job summary

Delta Air Lines is seeking a Flight Operations intern to support divisional goals by working with a dedicated team such as Training and Standards, Line Operations, or the Chief Pilot Office. Interns will present a team assignment to Flight Operations Leadership at semester end and may explore related departments.

This paid internship requires onsite work at Delta's World Headquarters in Atlanta, GA, January through May 2027, with standby travel privileges across the Delta system while off duty.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with an aviation discipline.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and maintain it.
  • Internship is educational/work experience oriented and does not guarantee full-time employment.
  • Must commit to January 2027 through May 2027.
  • Must work onsite at the Atlanta, GA office.
  • Strong organizational, project management and personal management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate across levels.
  • Must be 18+ and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Excellent communication and ability to handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in achieving divisional goals within Flight Operations.
  • Work with a specific team (Training and Standards, Line Operations or Chief Pilot Office).

Job description

How You'll Help Us Keep Climbing (Overview & Key Responsibilities)

A Flight Operations (Flight School) intern will assist in achieving divisional goals and contributing to the overall success of Delta Air Lines. Interns will be working with a specific team such as but not limited to Training and Standards, Line Operations or the Chief Pilot Office. While each intern will be assigned individual duties, all interns are expected to work as a team to complete a team assignment that will be presented to Flight Operations Leadership at the end of the semester.


Interns will have the opportunity to learn about other departments, such as but not limited to Flight Safety, Operations Customer Center, Technical Operations, In-Flight Service, and Airport Customer Service.


This is a paid internship, including additional privileges such as standby travel anywhere in the Delta system while off duty.


This is not a remote position, Interns will work on-site at Delta's World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.


What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)


  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with an aviation discipline.

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be able to maintain the minimum GPA.

  • Working as an Intern does not guarantee a full-time opportunity upon graduation. This position is intended to provide you with educational and professional work experience to prepare you for the workforce.

  • Must be able to commit to the duration of the internship timeline:

  • January 2027 through May 2027

  • Must be able to work onsite in the Atlanta, GA office.

  • Strong organizational, project management, and personal management skills.

  • Robust verbal and written communication skills at all levels.

  • Ability to work well in teams.

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

  • Possess excellent communication skills, be able to process complicated issues quickly, and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.

  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, Forms PowerPoint, and Smartsheet.

  • Must demonstrate competency in skills that include, but are not limited to, managing, and working training equipment, the collection and analysis of flight planning data, reading and summarizing new regulations, and the ability to quickly relate to the advanced jet environment.

  • Should have a minimum of 150 total flight hours required, actively pursuing either a Commercial Pilot Certificate or a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate (CFI).
