Job summary

Bosch is seeking an Engineering Intern to support injection molding process development and documentation. You will help with trials, data collection, and process validation while learning alongside experienced engineers.

The role emphasizes collaboration across functions, shop-floor observations, 5S activities, and contribution to continuous improvement initiatives. Successful candidates are pursuing a related BS degree and have hands-on engineering exposure.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a BS in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Relevant coursework or lab experience preferred.
  • Previous internship or hands-on experience beneficial but not required.
  • U.S. work authorization; sponsorship unavailable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Process Engineers with injection molding process development and optimization.
  • Support process documentation including setup sheets, work instructions, process parameter records, and standards.
  • Participate in molding trials, tool qualifications, and process validations under supervision.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing data on scrap, cycle time, downtime, utilization, and OEE.
  • Assist root cause investigations using structured problem solving.
  • Support continuous improvement focusing on safety, quality, delivery, cost and productivity.
  • Observe shop-floor, conduct 5S activities, and contribute to visual management improvements.
  • Use basic statistical tools to evaluate process performance and identify improvements.
  • Support engineering projects involving automation, robotics, tooling, and equipment.
  • Create reports and presentations summarizing data, progress, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate status to mentor.
  • Complete an internship project and present results to plant stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Process Engineers with injection molding process development and optimization activities.
  • Support process documentation, including setup sheets, work instructions, process parameter records, and engineering standards.
  • Participate in molding trials, tool qualifications, and process validation activities under appropriate supervision.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing data related to scrap, cycle time, downtime, utilization, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Assist with root cause investigations of quality concerns using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Participate in shop-floor observations, manufacturing audits, 5S activities, and visual management improvements.
  • Use basic statistical tools to evaluate process performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support engineering projects involving automation, robotics, tooling, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Create reports and presentations summarizing data, project findings, progress, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate professionally with cross-functional teams and communicate project status to the assigned mentor.
  • Complete a defined internship project and present the results to relevant plant stakeholders at the conclusion of the assignment.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Completion of relevant engineering coursework or laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Previous internship, co-op, manufacturing, technical project, or hands-on experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only. Future sponsorship for work authorization unavailable.
