Job summary

Bosch is seeking a driven intern in Indiana to support plastics molding process development. You will work with process engineers, collect and analyze data, and help document standards and setup sheets.

This hands-on role emphasizes teamwork, improvement projects, and exposure to automation and equipment initiatives. Current pursuit of a BS in Plastics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering is required; coursework and labs preferred.

Qualifications

  • Basic statistical tools and data analysis concepts are expected.
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
  • Relevant coursework or labs in engineering are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist process engineers with molding process development and optimization.
  • Support process documentation and records (setup sheets, work instructions, parameter logs).
  • Participate in molding trials, tool qualifications, and process validation activities.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data related to scrap, cycle time, downtime, OEE.
  • Assist with root-cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focusing on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Participate in shop-floor observations, 5S, and visual management improvements.
  • Use basic statistical tools to evaluate process performance and identify opportunities.
  • Assist with automation, robotics, tooling, and equipment projects.
  • Create reports and presentations summarizing data, findings, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and report to the assigned mentor.
  • Complete an internship project and present results to plant stakeholders.

Job description

Your tasks
  • Assist Process Engineers with injection molding process development and optimization activities.
  • Support process documentation, including setup sheets, work instructions, process parameter records, and engineering standards.
  • Participate in molding trials, tool qualifications, and process validation activities under appropriate supervision.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing data related to scrap, cycle time, downtime, utilization, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Assist with root cause investigations of quality concerns using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Participate in shop-floor observations, manufacturing audits, 5S activities, and visual management improvements.
  • Use basic statistical tools to evaluate process performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support engineering projects involving automation, robotics, tooling, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Create reports and presentations summarizing data, project findings, progress, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate professionally with cross-functional teams and communicate project status to the assigned mentor.
  • Complete a defined internship project and present the results to relevant plant stakeholders at the conclusion of the assignment.
Your profile
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Completion of relevant engineering coursework or laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Previous internship, co-op, manufacturing, technical project, or hands-on experience is beneficial but not required.
