Job summary

OGE Energy Corp. is seeking an Intern - Plant Operator to provide on-the-job education and gain hands-on experience in plant operations. Under direct supervision you will perform routine tasks, operate machines, assist skilled workers, and maintain maintenance records.

This internship offers exposure to various crafts and a pathway to technical careers in energy infrastructure. Ideal candidates are pursuing a technical associate degree or higher and have a high school diploma or GED.

JOB INFORMATION

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Responsibilities are varied but related to primary focus of job area. May work outside area of assigned duties. Routine duties based on detailed instruction. Works under direct supervision. Responds to routine questions and problems within standards and guides. Refers complex issues to higher levels.

Essential Functions

• Prepares simple reports or keeps maintenance records, and other routine duties in various craft trades.
• Operates machines and equipment.
• May drive automotive equipment to and from work sites.
• Assists skilled craft workers in a variety of maintenance, repair, or construction work by furnishing and using simple tools, materials and supplies.
• Assists the department and members by providing directions, instructions and responses to routine inquiries.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Cleans work area machines.
• May assemble tools, supplies, materials, and equipment and assist in maintaining them in serviceable condition.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED And pursuing an Associate's Degree or higher in a Technical discipline (i.e., Electronics, Engineering Technology, Power Plant Operations, etc.).

WORKING CONDITIONS

• May require travel to various job sites and facilities occasionally requiring staying overnight.
• May require to work overtime as needed.
• Required to work in both an office environment and in outside weather conditions.
