Job summary

Tallgrass is offering a Summer 2027 internship in its Lakewood, CO office. The program runs May–August for 10 weeks and is a temporary full-time position to support the PHMSA Compliance Department.

Interns gain exposure to PHMSA rules, audits, and cross-department collaboration while contributing to training tools and process improvements. The role includes a housing stipend and potential PTO; mentorship is provided throughout the program.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an approved Bachelor of Engineering degree program with expected graduation between December 2026 and May 2028.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Experience with process flow diagrams; CAD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn MOP/MAOP Confirmation.
  • Assist with audit prep – reviewing records, procedures, SSPs and visiting field locations to confirm audit readiness.
  • Help fine tune Agency inspections and enforcement status update processes.
  • Development of training/testing tools from the O&M procedures using AI.

JOB DESCRIPTION
What this Department does:

The PHMSA Compliance Department oversees the company's compliance program related to Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) pipeline safety regulations (49 CFR Parts 190-199), as well as any applicable state regulations. Our responsibilities include facilitating inspections, conducting incident investigations, responding to enforcement actions, providing training, and overseeing the updates to relevant operations, maintenance, engineering and design, construction, and public awareness manuals.

Compensation And Other Benefits
  • Pay Range $26.18-$37.09 USD hourly
  • The final pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and working location. The total compensation package for this role may also include; paid time off, a housing stipend, and more.

The fine print:
