Job summary

Advantage Healthcare Services is seeking an Intern Pharmacist to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to assist in the preparation of dispensing prescriptions, insurance claims, and other pharmacist-related duties.

Advantage emphasizes patient safety, collaboration with care teams, and support for injection programs within a behavioral health-focused pharmacy. You will gain hands-on experience while supporting providers and patients in navigating treatment and coverage.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited pharmacy program.
• Active Intern Pharmacist license in good standing in the practicing state.
• Previous experience in a pharmacy setting preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to questions regarding therapeutic errors of over the counter or prescription medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Verify prescriptions for appropriate dosage, drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications before dispensing.
• Perform clinical duties, including Medication Therapy Management (MTM).
• Perform quality control tests on prepared products and required tests on equipment.
• Assist licensed pharmacists to formulate, fill, label and dispense medications and other health care products in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Perform all activities of a Pharmacy Technician, as assigned by pharmacy leadership.
• Offer and provide consultation to patients under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and HIPAA laws.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as required.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, medication safety, and healthcare regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
• Experience with quality improvement initiatives and clinical research preferred
• Fully certified, and participate in the Pharmacist Injection/Vaccination Program

Education And Experience

• Must be enrolled in an accredited pharmacy program
• Active Intern Pharmacist license in good standing in practicing state
• Previous experience in a pharmacy setting preferred but not required

Working Conditions

• Full-time, typically requiring 40+ hours per week
• Work is performed in a pharmacy setting
• Prolonged periods working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
• Able to travel as needed
