South Dakota State Government, Department of Transportation, is offering a Summer Pavement Condition Engineering Intern position in Pierre. The internship runs from May to August and includes hands-on data collection and analysis, with training provided.

Interns will conduct pavement condition surveys to identify and quantify pavement condition data on various types of highway pavements. This is accomplished by reviewing and assessing data collected by SDDOT's Pavement Condition Vehicle. Much of this work will be completed from a computer workstation. All training is provided by the DOT with no previous training or knowledge required. This internship is in an office setting working 40 hours per week. Occasional overnight travel may be required if data collection or data verification is needed.
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
