Intern will be working with volunteers, full time, and seasonal staff in all aspects of the operations and maintenance of Hartford Beach State Park. Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: learning the Point of Sale system, troubleshooting problems for other employees, customer service skills, basic building and grounds maintenance, organizational and leadership skills, developing park programs, organizing and managing park projects, and educating visitors of park rules and enforcing them as needed. Applicant must be pursuing a degree in Park Management, Natural Resource Management, Natural Resources Law Enforcement, Ecology, Environmental Science, Wildlife and Fisheries, Forestry, Conservation Biology, or another closely related field. Park housing is available.
Applicant must be enrolled as a part‑time/full‑time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
