Job summary

South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks invites applications for a Summer Park Management Intern position in Lake Preston, SD. You will gain hands-on experience supporting park operations, learning POS systems, assisting visitors, and performing light maintenance tasks under supervision.

The role emphasizes customer service, knowledge of park rules, and safety. Housing is available on site if needed during the summer session May–August.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of SD institutions.

Position Description:
Interns will be assigned a variety of duties that will help them gain knowledge and experience needed to work in South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks. Duties will include, but are not limited to; learning the Point of Sale system and being able to troubleshoot problems for other employees, customer service skills, basic building and grounds maintenance including operation of power tools, riding mowers and chainsaws, organizational and leadership skills, and educating visitors to park rules and enforce them as needed. Housing available on site if needed.
