The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks is seeking a Conservation Officer Intern for the Summer session (May–August). Positions are available in Rapid City, Pierre, Sioux Falls, and Watertown.
Applicants must be enrolled as part-time or full-time students (minimum 6 credit hours) and have completed one year of study. Interns assist officers, conduct hunt/safety programs, perform license checks, keep daily logs, and present a final briefing to Regional staff.

*APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.
Conservation Officer Intern will assist Conservation Officers with various day to day activities. Activities include hunt safe programs, boat safety inspections, parks enforcement, license compliance checks, calls for service from the public, and Step Outside events. Conservation Officer Intern will be responsible for keeping a daily log of activities completed and submit a weekly summary of these activities to the immediate supervisor. Intern will also be required to photograph their activities and give a presentation at the end of the summer to Regional staff
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
