Responsibilities

• Learn the Point of Sale system and troubleshoot problems for other employees.
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills while assisting park visitors.
• Perform basic building and grounds maintenance with power tools, riding mowers and chainsaws.
• Demonstrate organizational and leadership abilities in daily tasks.
• Educate visitors on park rules and enforce them as needed.

Minimum Salary: $20.82/hr

*APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.

Interns will be assigned a variety of duties that will help them gain knowledge and experience needed to work in South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks. Duties will include, but are not limited to; learning the Point of Sale system and being able to troubleshoot problems for other employees, customer service skills, basic building and grounds maintenance including operation of power tools, riding mowers and chainsaws, organizational and leadership skills, and educating visitors to park rules and enforce them as needed. Housing is available if needed.

Specific Coursework beneficial to position may include: Parks and Recreation Management, Conservation Management, Rangeland and Watershed Ecology, Rangeland and Wildlife Biology.

Qualifications:
