Job summary

Hitachi Rail Honolulu JV is seeking an enthusiastic Intern – Operations and Maintenance Engineering for Summer, 2027, based in Pearl City, Hawaii. You will work on real-world projects and gain hands-on experience supporting maintenance planning and field data analysis.

We seek current engineering students with strong communication, technical skills, and proficiency in MS Office. This onsite program offers a paid internship at $22.00/hour, mentorship, and a path to a global digital-transformation

Qualifications

• Current engineering student at a 4-year university with expected graduation December 2027–December 2028.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical abilities with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Analyze field data to determine maintenance needs for equipment.
• Contribute to field analysis reports and O&M documentation.
• Assist in development of O&M management and maintenance plans.
• Support project bidding, scheduling, and delivery phases.

Accountabilities

• Analyze the field data in order to ensure the definition, for each equipment the maintenance needs, of the correct failure rate.
• Contribute to the preparation of a field analysis report
• Contribute to O&M documentation and participate in internal design reviews, including documentation of minutes and actions
• Contribute to the preparation of O&M Management Plan, Operation Plans, Maintenance Plan, Training plans, Spare Parts and Special Tools list
• Participate to projects, bidding and delivery phases within project schedule

Required skills/experience

• Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information
• Strong relevant technical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

Education

• Current Engineering student at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December, 2027 and December, 2028.

Languages

• English Proficiency
