Job summary

Labcorp in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Lab Assistant to support clinical specimen processing during the overnight shift (Monday–Friday 10:00pm–6:30am) with rotating weekends. Responsibilities include receiving specimens, preparation for testing, data entry, and equipment upkeep.

Preferred candidates have 3+ months of specimen processing or medical/lab experience, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team. Benefits and a supporting lab environment are available.

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Birmingham, AL.

Job Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
• Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
• 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience

• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills

• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
