Job summary

Guerbet seeks a Mechanical Engineer Co-op in Cincinnati to redesign and develop production-ready mechanical assemblies for medical devices. You will collaborate with Production, Quality, Procurement and Engineering to drive improvements within the plant, maintain mechanical files, and support new product implementations.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering program for at least two years.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS).
  • Experience creating mechanical design using SolidWorks or equivalent software.
  • Experience with mechanical hardware design, troubleshooting, and repair, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Redesign and develop new/existing mechanical assemblies for updated or new production-released medical devices.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Engineering to drive improvements within the OPEX Plant model.
  • Update and maintain mechanical files to support existing/new product.
  • Assist in developing mechanical assemblies for new and production-released devices and implement changes.
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting to root cause in support of production and MRB.
  • Support project leads with new product implementation.
  • Work with suppliers to develop testing methods and fixtures to ensure high-quality products with low first-time failures.
  • Evaluate and implement assembly procedures and equipment improvements with safety and ergonomics in mind.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Mechanical Engineer Co-op will be responsible for engineering activities relevant to meeting the plant Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and New Launch KPIs. Working with the Engineering team to troubleshoot existing mechanical designs and participate in new design implementation, as needed.

YOUR ROLE

  • Work with Engineering team to redesign and develop new/existing mechanical assemblies for updated or new production-released medical devices.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Engineering departments to continuously look for improvement actions to grow within the OPEX Plant development model.
  • Working with Mechanical Engineer to update and maintain mechanical files as needed to support existing/new product.
  • Work with Engineering team to assist in developing new/existing mechanical assemblies for new and production-released medical devices and to participate in implementing all respective changes.
  • Work with the engineering team to perform mechanical troubleshooting to root cause in support of production and the material review board (MRB).
  • Support project leads with new product implementation.
  • Work with suppliers to develop testing and measuring methods and create fixtures and processes to maintain high-quality products with low first-time failures.
  • Evaluate and implement product assembly procedures and operation equipment improvements, considering safety and ergonomics.
  • Develop engineering change orders (ECOs) while considering safety, quality, cost, and delivery improvements.
  • Working with the principal engineer, you will develop, document, and lead specific product pilot runs and validations.
  • Participate and support efforts for continuous improvements using the appropriate methods required, ex, CAPA (corrective action, preventative action) / Six Sigma methodology.
  • Participate and support 5S efforts and other lean activities for production work areas.
  • Support daily manufacturing problem-solving.

YOUR BACKGROUND

  • Enrolled and participated in a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent at an accredited College or University for at least two years.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS)
  • Experience creating mechanical design using Solid Works or equivalent software applications.
  • Experience with mechanical hardware design, troubleshooting, and repair, preferred.
