Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program for a minimum of two years.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS).
  • Experience with PCBA design using Altium or equivalent software.
  • Experience with electrical hardware design, troubleshooting, and repair is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain PCBAs for new and production-released medical devices.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Procurement and PCBA suppliers.
  • Maintain parts libraries for PCBA development software.
  • Troubleshoot PCBA and medical devices down to the component level.
  • Assist in developing new/existing PCBAs for product launches and changes.
  • Support project leads with new product implementation.
  • Develop testing methods, fixtures, and processes to ensure high quality.
  • Review and approve ECOs for safety, quality, cost, and delivery improvements.
  • Lead pilot runs and validations with the engineering team.
  • Participate in CAPA, Six Sigma, and lean activities.
  • Contribute to 5S efforts and daily production problem solving.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Electrical Engineer Co-op will be responsible for engineering activities relevant to meeting the plant Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and New Launch KPIs. Working with the Engineering team to troubleshoot existing electrical designs and, when the opportunity occurs, participate in new design implementation.

YOUR ROLE
  • Work with Engineering team to develop and sustain new/existing printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) for the new and production-released medical devices.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Procurement and PCBA suppliers to create new and update electronic testing fixtures and procedures.
  • Work with electrical engineers to assist in developing and maintaining parts libraries for PCBA development software.
  • Work with the engineering team to perform PCBA and medical device troubleshooting down to the component level in support of production and the material review board (MRB).
  • When the opportunity occurs, they will work with Engineering teams to assist in developing new/existing PCBAs for new and production-released medical devices and to participate in implementing all respective changes.
  • Support project leads with new product implementation.
  • Work with PCBA with electrical engineers and suppliers to develop testing methods, fixtures, and processes to maintain high-quality products, reducing the number of first-time failures.
  • Develop, review, and approve engineering change orders (ECOs) considering safety, quality, cost, and delivery improvements.
  • Working with the lead engineer, you will develop, document, and lead specific product pilot runs and validations.
  • Participate and support efforts for continuous improvements using the appropriate methods required, e.g., CAPA (corrective action, preventative action), Six Sigma methodology, or others.
  • Participate and support 5S efforts and other lean activities for production work areas.
  • Support daily manufacturing problem-solving.
YOUR BACKGROUND
  • Enrolled and participate in an Electrical Engineering program at an accredited College or University for a minimum of two years.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS)
  • Experience with PCBA design using Altium and or equivalent software applications a plus.
  • Experience with electrical hardware design, troubleshooting, and repair a plus.
