Job summary

L3Harris Technologies seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the summer in Carlsbad, CA, to support new product development and factory activities. You’ll work with engineers on CAD models, ECOs, and documentation, gaining hands-on design experience.

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern for the summer to support both new product development and factory support for existing products. This internship offers hands‑on experience working alongside engineers and mechanical designers to contribute to product design, documentation, and engineering change processes in a collaborative environment.

Essential Functions

• Provide mechanical engineering support for both new product development activities as well as factory support of existing products
• Work directly with mechanical designers on CAD models and part documentation
• Generate and/or process engineering change orders (ECO’s) as required

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, or a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science Engineering or related field at an accredited university.

Preferred Skills

• CAD or analysis (FEA) tools exposure, and/or experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures and mechanisms
• Gear train, motion control, or experience with AI.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $25.50-48.00/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
