Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Rotate through universal banker, relationship banker, operations officer, and branch manager roles.
• Help open new consumer and business accounts under supervision.
• Support the Branch Manager in developing relationships with clients and in community outreach.
• Assist with account openings and observe daily branch operations.
• Partner with Branch Manager to learn resource deployment to meet business objectives.
• Assist in resolving client inquiries and refer to appropriate bank personnel.
• Observe coaching, development, and performance management activities.
• Participate in training on branch operations and customer service standards.
• Observe branch opening/closing procedures and daily operational requirements.
• Observe branch processes, including account maintenance and balancing controls.
• Participate in monthly branch security meetings and risk management practices.
• Learn internal controls and compliance with banking regulations.
• Identify opportunities to promote banking products and services.
• Complete other duties and special projects as requested.

Summary

This full-time position is part of GCB's Summer Internship Program, which is scheduled to run from Monday, May 17th through Friday, July 23rd, potentially extending through mid-August based on the decision of the hiring manager and department. Additionally, interns must participate in a Final Internship Presentation located in New Orleans on Thursday, July 22nd. Candidates must be available for the full duration of the program to ensure a consistent and meaningful learning experience.

The Consumer Banking Management internship is part of the retail banking division that supports the company’s client relationships and is a key function of the company’s primary business. This is a rotational career development program where you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in various areas of the branch to learn and be able to manage and lead a financial center. The rotational program will consist of responsibilities as a universal banker, certified relationship banker, operations officer, and branch manager.

Responsibilities

• Gain firsthand insight into how our Retail team serve customers and support their communities while developing leadership, public speaking, and professional communication skills.
• Represent the bank alongside the Branch Manager at local community events, networking opportunities, and outreach initiatives.
• Support the Branch Manager in maintaining and developing relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Assist with and observe the opening of new consumer and business accounts under the supervision of a certified Relationship Banker.
• Partner with the Branch Manager to learn how resources are deployed to optimize team performance and support business objectives.
• Assist in resolving client inquiries and challenges through direct interaction and referrals to appropriate bank personnel.
• Observe employee coaching, development, and performance management activities to gain exposure to branch leadership responsibilities.
• Participate in training designed to provide an understanding of branch operations, customer service standards, and retail banking processes.
• Observe branch opening and closing procedures and gain an understanding of daily operational requirements.
• Observe branch operational processes, including account maintenance procedures, balancing controls, and operational oversight activities under the supervision of branch leadership.
• Participate in monthly branch security meetings and gain awareness of security protocols and risk management practices.
• Learn and understand the importance of internal controls, operational procedures, and compliance with all applicable banking regulations and bank policies.
• Identify opportunities to promote banking products and services that meet customer needs.
• Complete other duties, special projects, and assignments as requested.

Requirements

Required Skills/Experience/Education

• Minimum preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Currently pursuing an Associate's degree, required. Enrolment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree will also be considered.
• Business majors preferred.
• Be a highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative.
• Demonstrates attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills.
