Job summary

GM Financial invites law students to join a summer internship program in Fort Worth. You will assist in researching, drafting, and reviewing corporate documents, with exposure to regulatory and compliance matters.

We value analytical thinking, strong written communication, and the ability to work with AI-enabled tools. Hybrid work with in-office days is offered as part of the program.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in law school between 2nd and 3rd year.
• Auto Finance experience is a plus.

• Gather and analyze current information of the law relevant to the company.
• Assist attorneys with prosecution/defense and with compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities

Assist in research, review, analysis, drafting and approval of various documents, policies, procedures and obligations to which the company is or may become a party.

Gather and analyze current information of the law in areas of special interest to the company.

Assist attorneys with the prosecution/defense of corporate lawsuits. Research and produce evidence required in claims by and against the company.

Assist attorneys with ensuring corporate compliance with all relevant federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances.

Participate in required intern events Knowledge

Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and practices of legal research.

Knowledge of administrative and judicial procedures and the rules of evidence.

Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal documents.

Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with corporate personnel, customers, contractors, consulting attorney's, court officials, regulatory agencies and the general public.

Ability to express facts and ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to use Microsoft Office applications software.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in law school in between 2nd and 3rd year and/or Gap year Law school graduates, preparing for Bar Exams. Auto Finance experience a plus.

Working Effectively Within An AI Enabled Environment

• Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
• Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
• Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insightsFamiliarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
• Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection
