RWE Americas, LLC is offering an Intern, Investment & Valuation for Summer 2027 in the Finance / Controlling area. The role supports the I&V team by developing analyses of renewable energy investment opportunities and communicating results to senior colleagues.

Based in Illinois with some travel to other RWEA offices, the intern will assist with data gathering, valuation inputs, and papers for leadership review, while learning about governance and investment processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in business, finance, economics, or engineering with expected graduation between Dec 2027 and Jun 2028.
  • Knowledge of valuation methods (DCF) and of financial modeling (Excel) required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Interest in renewable energy or energy markets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Renewables growth ambitions of the Americas.
  • Develop quantitative and qualitative analyses of investment opportunities and communicate results.
  • Collect and ensure completeness and validity of inputs to investment decisions.
  • Assist in preparing papers and presentations for the Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Identify and implement improvements to investment processes and valuation models.
  • Support internal projects with senior management involvement and QC reviews.
  • Collaborate with I&V teammates and broader Finance/ Renewables teams.

The Intern, Investment & Valuation, Summer 2027 will be a key member of our Investment & Valuation (I&V) team, bringing renewable energy projects forward for investment decisions at RWE Americas (RWEA). Our I&V team enables value-added growth by providing analysis and critical advice to our colleagues in the business while ensuring strong governance around investment decisions. The Intern will work closely both with our I&V team and with colleagues from the whole Finance community and broader Renewables business. Our team environment is high-energy. Role Responsibilities:
  • Support the strong growth ambitions of our Renewables business (including utility-scale solar PV, onshore wind, battery storage, and hydrogen) in the Americas
  • Support on developing quantitative and qualitative analyses of investment opportunities, and effectively communicate results
  • Collect and ensure completeness as well as validity of inputs to investment decisions, especially those inputs that are key to valuation results
  • Support investment decision processes, preparation of papers and presentations for the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors at RWEA
  • Support on identifying and implementing improvements to our investment processes and valuation models, including the use of digital solutions
  • Support internal ad-hoc projects with direct senior management involvement
  • Support other members of the I&V team as required, including quality control reviews
Job Requirements and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or similar university degree or graduating between December 2027 and June 2028
  • Knowledge of valuation methodologies (especially DCF) and of financial modeling (Excel) required
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Interest in renewable energy or energy markets
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWEA offices and field locations
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

Pay range:

The hourly base salary range for this position in Illinois is $25.00 - $35.00 for undergraduates and $30.00 - $40.00 for graduates. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
