Job summary

Progress Rail invites a motivated Accounting or Finance student to join our Albertville, AL location as a Summer 2027 Internship. You will engage in journal entry processing, accounts payable, billing, budgeting, and financial analysis while supporting the reporting system in a dynamic corporate environment.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a business-related major and have familiarity with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• Business related major is preferred.
• Accounting Principles Class I & II preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and enter journal entries and accruals.
• Assist with financial statements and reports.
• Balance sheet analysis and GL reconciliation.
• Support financial reporting systems and data entry of AP invoices.
• Communicate with internal/external customers on AP inquiries.
• Assist with customer billing and budgeting analyses.

Job Purpose

Accounting or Finance Student Interns should expect to learn multiple facets of accounting and finance related processes in a division of a large, public company. This can include but is not limited to property accounting, sales and use tax, financial reporting, accounts payables and receivables functions and/or financial planning and analysis. The student intern will leave this position with valuable skills and industry knowledge.

Key Job Elements

• Preparation and entry of a variety of journal entries (standard entries, accruals, etc.);
• Assist with preparation and analysis of financial statements and supporting reports;
• Perform balance sheet analysis, reconcile various general ledger accounts, and maintain supporting documentation for multiple legal entities;
• Support software system for financial reporting;
• Perform data entry of accounts payable invoices in an accurate and timely manner;
