Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in Childress District is seeking a year-round Intern Support Technician to gain hands-on experience in HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, events, records management, data audits and more.

You will work with HR Generalists and interns, provide customer service, and handle confidential information while supporting essential HR operations. Applicants must be enrolled in high school or college and able to commit to 20+ hours weekly.

Qualifications

  • Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school.
  • Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Performs entry-level administrative support work, assisting in maintaining confidential information and records.
  • Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant.
  • Assists in processing routine documents such as vouchers, personnel records, titles or registrations.
  • Disseminates information to the public.
  • Maintains files, records, and logs.
  • Performs preliminary research on assignments and gathers pertinent data.
  • Performs routine word processing duties and conducts quality checks of documents created.

Position Information

Are you looking to gain real-world experience while building a foundation for your future career? TxDOT's Human Resources team in the Childress District is seeking a motivated, year-round Intern Support Technician to join our team in Childress, Texas. This exciting opportunity offers hands-on experience in a variety of HR functions, allowing you to work alongside HR Generalists and other interns while supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee events, records management, data audits, and other key HR operations. You'll contribute to meaningful projects, provide excellent customer service, maintain confidential information, and gain valuable exposure to Human Resources practices and processes.

Applicants must be enrolled in high school, college, or a trade/vocational program and be available to work year-round, including a minimum of 20 hours per week during the school year. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
