Amentum invites undergrad and graduate students to join the Space Exploration Division GN&C team for a spring internship. You will work on controls, 6-DOF modeling, simulation, and tool development supporting HLSP to ensure safety and mission success for Moon and Mars missions.
Responsibilities include developing software simulations, using MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape Multibody, and analyzing launch vehicle dynamics while preparing technical reports and briefings.

The Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) team is a high performing group executing challenging tasks to design and integrate GN&C systems for projects ranging from CubeSats to NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS). We are looking for an undergraduate or a graduate student spring intern with academic or work experience in controls, 6 DOF modeling, simulation, and tool development. Current enrollment in an engineering, science, technical, engineering, math, computer science, or related BS or MS degree program. A degree program at an ABET accredited institution is preferred.
You are expected to have a valid Star ID/ Real ID driver's license, have access to an automobile, and be able to drive yourself to work locations.
Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<5%).
Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings and test stands at NASA and Amentum facilities (10%).
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
Normal workday is from 7:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act.
