McCarthy Improvement (MCI) is seeking a Fleet Data Analytics Intern for Summer 2027 in Davenport, IA. This role combines office data analysis with field verification to improve fleet utilization and decision making.

Expect to collect and analyze equipment usage data, build dashboards, and support replacement/purchasing decisions. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required, with 32–40 hours/week and a flexible schedule around school timelines.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data (SQL, Power BI, or Tableau a plus).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze equipment usage data (utilization, idle time, hours logged) across the fleet.
• Build reports and dashboards to identify underused or overworked equipment.
• Spend time in the field confirming data accuracy against actual machine hours and condition.
• Support decisions on equipment replacement, reallocation, and purchasing.
• Collaborate with the equipment and operations teams to translate data into actionable recommendations.

McCarthy Improvement is looking for a Fleet Data Analytics Intern for Summer, 2027. This position will be based out of our location in Davenport, Iowa.

Applicants who are pursuing any level college degree in data analytics, business analytics, information systems, or a related field are encouraged to apply. This would be a full time role scheduled 32-40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule based on school timelines.

What can you expect in this role?

At MCI, we manage a fleet of over 300 pieces of heavy equipment. We're looking for a highly motivated, data-driven intern to help us better understand how that fleet is being used - and where we can improve. This role is roughly split 50% in the office analyzing data, and 50% in the field verifying it against real equipment, so a clean driving record and valid driver's license are a must.
