Allianz Commercial is seeking an Intern for our Financial Lines Team in Chicago, IL. This hybrid role offers hands-on experience in commercial insurance, working with risk consulting, underwriting and operations to identify, analyze and manage risk from day one.

You will contribute to projects, receive mentorship, and gain exposure across lines of business, building a practical understanding of how risk is evaluated and controlled within a global insurance leader.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field

We are looking for an Intern for our Financial Lines Team. This will be a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL.

About This Opportunity

• We’re looking for a motivated and curious intern to join our Financial Lines team. This internship is designed to give you hands‑on experience in the world of commercial insurance. You’ll work alongside our risk consulting, underwriting, and operational support professionals, gaining a real‑world understanding of how risk is identified, analyzed, and managed.
• This isn’t a “get coffee and make copies” kind of internship. You’ll be an active contributor from day one, with meaningful projects, mentorship, and exposure to multiple areas of our business.

• Help our team identify and analyze risk, contributing to the decisions that protect businesses around the world.
• Collaborate on a proof of concept for a new product offering or research initiative, bringing fresh ideas and perspectives.
• Gain exposure across lines of business, seeing the full picture of how our Risk Consulting team operates.
• Build connections across the organization through job shadows, internal meetings, and speaking engagements.

Some Of Your Responsibilities Could Include

• Risk Consulting Support: Assist with identifying and analyzing risk, and learn how we advise clients on managing potential losses. You may work across different lines of business, giving you a broad view of our capabilities.
• Special Projects: Collaborate on a proof of concept for a new product or research effort. You’ll also take on projects that can be completed within the length of your internship, so you’ll see your work through from start to finish.
• On-the-Job Learning: Participate in a wide range of learning and development activities designed to immerse you in how insurance works, from the ground up.

What You'll Bring To The Role

• We’re not looking for someone who knows everything. We’re looking for someone who’s eager to learn, ready to contribute, and excited about solving problems. Here’s what will set you up for success:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field
• A minimum GPA of 3.0
• Comfortable with basic computer applications, including Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Solid problem‑solving and analytical thinking abilities
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
• A self‑starter who also thrives as part of a team
• Fluent in English
• A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential.

The hourly pay rate for this role is $27.00/Hr.
