Summary

This position is a part of our Project Management Team for our various jobsite locations throughout the west coast United States. Engineer Interns provide onsite engineering and technical support, quality control, construction management assistance, land surveys, and help maintain a safe working environment. Dredging or marine construction experience is preferred. Travel is extensive. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Field Engineer for Construction Assignments

• Reporting of daily activities of a construction or yard operations crew
• Cost and implementation comparison of as-built construction activities to the as-bid estimates
• Quantity tracking
• Formwork and falsework details
• Coordinate with project foremen and superintendents to write work procedures for activities
• Development of project work element plans and hazard analysis
• Computer Aided Drafting for analysis of equipment capabilities, depiction of work methods, access, and sequencing
• Quantity takeoffs
• Reading job specific specifications and standard specifications
• Subcontractor and supplier coordination and quote comparisons
• Estimate cost analysis and detail entry
• Form and falsework detailing
• Equipment analysis
• Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.
• Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment
• Additional duties may be assigned

Interns will work both in the office and in the field on project sites. Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, for field assignments the employee is frequently exposed to adverse weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, respirators, etc.). The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, to grasp, grip, handle, and feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures.
