Job summary

The Field Engineer Intern will work directly alongside superintendents and project managers on active electrical construction projects in Houston, TX, gaining hands-on exposure to field operations. This site-based role requires PPE and safety training, with a dedicated mentor and supervisor guiding day-to-day tasks.

The internship runs 10–12 weeks (early June – mid-August), offering capstone project presentation to leadership and possible consideration for full-time roles after graduation.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Willingness to work on active job sites, including required PPE and safety training (OSHA 10 provided).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, outdoor/field environment.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain as-built drawings and track RFIs and submittals.
• Support daily and weekly field reporting.
• Assist with material tracking, punch list coordination, and site walks with superintendents and PMs.
• Observe and document field installation methods.
• Assist with basic quantity takeoffs and progress tracking.
• Participate in site safety briefings and toolbox talks.
• Support safety documentation and compliance tracking on site.

Position Summary

This role is site‑based and physically active, offering the clearest look at day‑to‑day field operations of any track in the program.

Key Responsibilities

Documentation & Tracking

• Maintain as‑built drawings and track RFIs and submittals.
• Support daily and weekly field reporting.

Field Support

• Assist with material tracking, punch list coordination, and site walks with superintendents and PMs.

Means & Methods

Internship Program Details

• Paid, 10–12 week summer program (early June – mid‑August)
• Assigned supervisor for day‑to‑day work plus a separate mentor for informal guidance and support
• Company‑wide orientation, weekly lunch‑and‑learns with department leaders, and a mid‑summer check‑in
• Capstone project presented to department and executive leadership in the final week
• Strong performers — particularly graduating seniors — will be considered for full‑time offers
