Job summary

TYLin in Indianapolis is seeking a Summer 2027 Water Sector Intern to work with experienced engineers on water and wastewater projects, from concept through design. You will perform drawings, reports, and calculations using AutoCAD Civil3D and other industry tools, support permits and approvals, and assist with feasibility studies, cost estimates, and coordination with suppliers and contractors.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to learn planning and EA processes

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce quality results.
• Willingness to learn new software and apply it.

Responsibilities

• Create conceptual, preliminary and detailed drawings (Plan & Profiles) using AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Prepare engineering reports, calculations, specifications and cost estimates for water and wastewater projects.
• Perform calculations and analysis for design of sanitary and storm sewers and watermains.
• Assist project team with feasibility studies and permits/approvals.
• Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for shop drawings and industry standards.
• Assist with contract administration and construction inspection duties as required.
• Support business development efforts including proposals and time/task matrices.
