Job summary

EMC Engineering Services Inc. seeks an Engineering Intern I to assist in civil engineering tasks across multiple Georgia locations, including Augusta/Martinez, Brunswick, Columbus, Rincon and Savannah.

The role focuses on developing design and drafting skills under supervision of a Professional Engineer. You will perform CAD work, assist with site investigations, produce working drawings, and support project administration while building communication with internal and external clients.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Bachelor or Master’s degree program.
• AutoCAD skills or similar design program skills a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of working drawings in CAD from markups by others, construction documents and base maps.
• Some participation in the actual design of the project under supervision.
• Job filing, deliveries, and misc. administration.

Job Description

The ENGINEERING INTERN I performs assignments designed to develop professional engineering work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Bachelor or Master's degree program
• AutoCAD skills or similar design program skills a plus.
• Proficient with computer software programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate in English with internal and external clients.
• Possibility of travelling to job sites
• Valid driver’s license required; must have satisfactory driving record in accordance with EMC fleet insurance requirements.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
